So you’re getting a 2024 winter wedding!
A last-minute guide to early 2024 weddings!
So, you’re getting married in January, February, or March!
Happy 2024 from the Magical Vows’ team! I hope you had a great holiday season, and you got to enjoy it as much as possible.
2024 spouses, this is your wedding year! Yay! Finally, it’s here! That’s exciting!! That’s marvellous! That’s freaking anxiety-inducing! Especially for you, with the 2024 winter wedding. Doh!
So, take a deep breath, and let me help put things in order!
You’re on the last leg of the planning, or you should be, and it’s time to check your numbers and cross your Ts.
Let’s go per topic.
Guests
Make sure everyone has RSVPed and call those who haven’t yet.
If you still have someone hesitating, especially less than a month before the date, tell them that you’re sorry they cannot make it, but the restaurant/catering needs the definitive number and you cannot wait anymore. It’s not even a lie, they do need it as early as possible.
Do you have all the dietary information for the people who have, indeed, RSVPed? Check!
Communicate them to the wedding planner/coordinator and/or the catering/restaurant: it’s fundamental to keep an open communication with your catering service, especially in case of guests with allergies or celiac disease. You don’t want to miss your 2024 winter wedding on your way to the hospital!
Is your children’s list complete?
Make sure you have the complete list of the kids, if you have invited them, and communicate with your vendors about how many they are, which ages, and if they have a kid menu. Make sure you have their list of allergies and dietary requirements as well.
If you have quite a few kids, I’d advise you to book an entertainment service, you should still be able to! It just puts your and the parents’ minds at ease knowing the kids are looked after!
Outfits and look!
Are hems and any modifications done?
Have all the accessories arrived? Check everything and complete what’s missing, make a list, and set out to immediately find what’s not there!
Break in your wedding shoes!
Don’t torture yourself on the wedding day with hurting feet… spend your early winter breaking your shoes in, so that you don’t have to suffer on the day. In any case, bring a comfortable pair of shoes with you, so you have the option to swap them out at any moment!
If you have hair and makeup planned, check in with the stylists and set your plans in stone
Get all your preparation works done (colours, peeling, etc) and resist the temptation to do something crazy right before: especially in the last four to two weeks: if anything goes awry this close to the date it is going to be hard to fix… go crazy after the wedding, instead, if you want: that can be a nice treat to yourself after all!
Create an emergency bag
A sewing kit, anti-blister plasters, deodorant, tissues, a touch-up set for hair and make-up… anything you might need that day should go in there. Give it to a maid of honour, a best man, a parent, or your planner!
Vendors
Give your photographer the list of photos you really want!
From the list of people you want the photo with, to specific poses, give the photographer anything that they need to make sure to do on your 2024 winter wedding day and you don’t want to forget.
Give the musicians/Dj the list of songs
Ceremony entrance and processional, entrance at the dinner, first dance, and so on, and the blacklist of songs, artists, and/or genres that you don’t want to hear so that your ears are safe!
Confirm that the rain plan is in place and trust your vendors!
They know how the logistics of the event work, and most of them will be local and will advise you on how to proceed with the rain or sun plan (or a mix of the two). You’re still getting married in winter, so it’s very important to be comfortable and warm!
Check in with your wedding planner/coordinator and/or vendors for the exact timeline of the event, so that you know what to expect on the big day!
And last, the most important thing:
make sure you live your day to the fullest and you enjoy the celebration of your love!
